Colorado Tax Credits

Volunteers of America Colorado participates in two tax credit programs – the Homeless Contribution Tax Credit (HCTC) program and the Child Care Contribution Tax Credit (CCCC). Details for each program are below.

Homeless Contribution Tax Credit (HCTC)

Created by Colorado House Bill 2022 – 1083, the Colorado Homeless Contribution Income Tax Credit (HCTC) provides a tax credit to Colorado taxpayers that contribute to eligible homelessness related projects (such as Volunteers of America projects) within Colorado.

Individuals who contribute to homeless related activities in an urban area of the state (such as the Metro Denver area) will receive a 25% state tax credit. Individuals who contribute to homeless related activities in a rural area of the state (such as Durango) will receive a 30% tax credit.

Qualifying Gifts:

  • Monetary gifts of $250 or more

Child Care Contribution Tax Credit

Individuals who make monetary contributions to eligible licensed childcare facilities (such as the Early Childhood Education Center) will receive a 50% state tax credit.

Qualifying Gifts:

  • Monetary gifts of $250 or more

Requirements:

  • The gift must be a monetary gift. Contributions of property or services do not qualify
  • The state requires taxpayers to provide their full social security number to the nonprofit in order to certify the gift with the state. A representative from Volunteers of America will contact you to obtain this information.
  • You must indicate your desire for Child Care Contribution Credit. For example, write “CCCC” on the memo line of your check. Or, when donating online, write “CCCC” in the donor comments section
  • The total value of tax credits allowed per taxpayer per year may not exceed $100,000
