VOA Colorado Honors Heroes: A Week of Celebration and Gratitude for Colorado’s Veterans

VOA Colorado Hosts a Series of Meaningful Events Honoring Veterans’ Service and Sacrifices Across Colorado

Denver, CO (November 6, 2024) — In celebration of Veterans Day, Volunteers of America Colorado (VOA Colorado) will host a week-long series of events to honor the bravery, dedication, and service of Colorado’s veterans. From a birthday celebration to pinning ceremonies to powerful panel discussions, these events will recognize and celebrate the sacrifices of veterans throughout the state.

Home to over 400,000 veterans, Colorado is a community deeply enriched by the contributions of those who served. However, many veterans face challenges, including limited access to housing, mental health support, and food security. VOA Colorado’s programs and initiatives are dedicated to helping veterans build connections and access essential resources, fostering a supportive network that continues long after Veterans Day.

Event Lineup:

United States Marine Corps Birthday Party – 1247 Santa Fe Drive, Denver, November 10
To kick off Veterans Week, VOA Colorado will host a birthday celebration for the United States Marine Corps on November 10. Veterans, families, and community members are invited to join in honoring the Marines’ legacy of strength, resilience, and camaraderie, sharing stories and reflections to inspire and uplift.

Veteran Pinning Ceremony –1247 Santa Fe Drive, Denver, November 11, at 10 a.m.
On Veterans Day, VOA Colorado will host a special pinning ceremony in Denver, a heartfelt tribute where veterans receive commemorative pins as symbols of gratitude. Each veteran will be honored individually, offering families and the public a chance to witness their stories of courage and resilience.

Veteran Experience Panel – Virtual, Denver, November 13 at 10 a.m.
This impactful panel discussion will provide a rare look into the unique experiences and challenges veterans face in their transition to civilian life. Veterans will share personal stories, shedding light on issues like mental health and employment. The Veteran Experience Panel aims to foster understanding, awareness, and appreciation, emphasizing VOA Colorado’s commitment to creating pathways of support.

Veteran Pinning Ceremony – 734 Western Drive, Colorado Springs, November 15, at noon
The week concludes with a second pinning ceremony in Colorado Springs, mirroring the Denver event’s heartfelt recognition of veterans. Family members, friends, and the local community are invited to celebrate the bravery and sacrifices of veterans, bringing Veterans Week to a memorable close.
