The Healthy Aging Program uses nutrition education, regular physical activity, and disease self-management skills to empower seniors to take control of their health, improve their quality of life, and maintain their independence. The Healthy Aging Program offers five different evidence-based programs which are held at various senior housing facilities and recreation center locations.

Steps to Healthier Aging is a 12 week walking program that meets twice a week: once a week to learn about various nutrition topics, and once a week to do the Arthritis Foundation Exercise Program (AFEP).

  • The Arthritis Foundation Exercise Program is a physical activity program geared toward people with arthritis. The exercises are gentle and can be done sitting or standing.
  • Healthier Living is a 6 week chronic disease self-management class that teaches individuals how to manage their chronic condition(s) and increase their quality of life.
  • Healthy Moves for Aging Well is an exercise program designed specifically for home-bound individuals to help them maintain their independence.
  • Matter of Balance is an 8 week fall-prevention program that addresses issues surrounding the fear of falling.
